**Before we jump in, a little good news, for once. The Hands Off march that took place over the weekend drew 5.2 million protesters, and events were held in 1300 cities, which is incredible. Showing up, getting out, speaking up, and using our voices IS powerful. I hope to see this momentum and energy continue, because it is crucial that our elected representatives on every side of the isle know that WE hold the power to demand more and vote them out when they no longer serve us. The next nationwide protest is scheduled for April 19.
Moving on!
The US gets 97% of it’s apparel and footwear from overseas, so you can consider pretty much everything on sale right now. However, I will say that as someone who is currently having daily conversations with brands about what the fuck to do about the chaos of it all, I am hearing a lot about how the brands themselves will be eating the cost for product that has already been sold and produced (aka through Fall 2025), and that prices will be increased for the consumer for future seasons. Note that this only applies to brands with a large wholesale presence, not for DTC brands, but if you’re shopping small with independent retailers, you may get a few more months of “normal” prices before they skyrocket (good for you, bad for these brands, who now will have decreased or maybe nonexistent profit margins). That said, buy your Lululemon now.
Related to the above, I recommend reading this from
where she breaks down exactly how tariffs are hurting her small business and the ways in which they are thinking about how to move forward. Also, her brand, Lazy Jamie is great and is where you may buy these fantastic coffee cups I keep droning on about around here.I hate everything from Gap Studio. Yeah, I said it. So much of it looks like it was designed for the male gaze, which is a classic ZP move, and is that going to move the needle with the Gap brand? I doubt it. Gap main line has been looking good lately (read more here from
), why spend money developing a new collection that no one needs nor asked for.As you may know, I finally made the trek to the new Printemps here in NYC. Over the weekend, I wrote a little (long) recap of my very personal and not necessarily based in research thoughts and impressions on the store. I did not send this out via email because I did not want to spam you all on a Saturday, but here it is.
Saturday Special: Printemps is here
·Printemps finally opened here in NYC, so last week I made the pilgrimage to Fidi to check it out (ok it’s not actually that far, but the only reason I like going over there is for Jeremy’s Ale House. The wine bar at McNally Jackson in the summer is nice too).
The Sephora sale is on and I’m using it as a great excuse to stock up on a few products I use to the last drop, including The Ordinary Lactic Acid, Innbeauty Project Extreme Cream, Glossier Skin Tint, Ilia Brow Gel, Gucci Mascara, Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, Summer Fridays Lip Balm, Supergoop Glow Screen, and Ole Henriksen Toner. Also a lot of you really seem to love this Instant Angel, so I’ll give it a shot. (For my full edit, click here) Happy shopping!!
