Quick note: normally I would not be sending this out on a Tuesday, but because I am truly overwhelmed with news and emotion over what is happening this week I decided to channel my energy into online shopping and writing about something *fun*, otherwise I’d be refreshing New York Times an unhinged amount and staring into space running through worst case scenarios at the office all day.
Oof I had a real reckoning with how much I care about feeling cool when I was a Brooklyn mom! I’m in Jersey City now and it’s a totally different scene - I love this glimpse into what’s hot in BK these days! It’s only been three years since our move but three years is 15 years in sartorial speak! 😂
As a Canadian woman living on the opposite side of the continent, who dreams of living in New York and being a mom, I shall live vicariously through these fashion recos 🫡
Ok I looked at that exact Zara coat last month and then talked myself out of it for some reason. Today I talked myself back into it. Don’t know what I’m gonna say to my already overstuffed coat closet, but I’m sure the words will come.
(It really is just too perfect for throwing on over whatever frazzled mom-mess I’ve got happening in the morning. And not so precious that I’ll worry about picking up my muddy-booted three year old who never grew out of his snuggling phase — not that I ever want him to.)
Not American, but feeling stressed and anxious today nonetheless. I grew up an hour from the US border, I love America. Hope you know how many neighbours to the north are rooting for your women, and your country, today.

I feel seen! And appreciate the blueprint 🫶
Wow this is exactly what I envisioned a Brooklyn mom wears.😳And I live clear across the country!
Haha I guess we’re predictable!
Also find myself doing some retail therapy right now! Thanks for the distraction!
Yes to retail therapy!! Also consuming all the bagels, pizza, and wine I can get my hands on - comfort food to the rescue.
It was Sara Petersen who wrote about that magazine. In Pursuit of Clean Countertops
+1!
