Fall shopping is kicking off, despite these oppressively hot temps. This week, I am eyeing some great jeans, more stuff for the home, and honestly…some rest.
Enjoy!
This candelabra from SIN that I’ve been getting bombarded with ads for but would look perfect on our handmade dining table (especially with my newfound love of taper candles. Get a bunch in various colors to bring in a fun pop to the space).
These jeans from Madewell that I’ve tried on like six times but haven’t pulled the trigger on yet because I keep forgetting to bring in my old denim to recycle and get the $20 off. But guys, they are SO GOOD. And I have been having a REALLY, really hard time finding jeans that I like, feel good in, and think are flattering on since having a baby. I’m not necessarily complaining about my new body because I know it’s going to change and there really isn’t such a thing as “getting your body back”, but the postpartum bod thing is real and a year later I struggle with it nearly every day, so yes, I am going to treat myself to as many new pairs of pants as I want that make me feel good. I deserve it.
A massage and a day at the spa. Again, because I deserve it. And lifting babies up out of the crib takes a toll on your back and shoulders. Also, I deserve it. I normally end up at Bathhouse because I think it’s a very pleasant way to spend the day…floating between saunas, pools, cold plunges, hot tubs, glasses of wine, book reading, snacks, more sauna, and treatments. Absolutely no complaining there. But I am also very interested in trying out the spa on Governors Island (which I just went to after over a decade of living in NYC and if you haven’t been you’re missing out!)
This hat. I know, another cap. But I have been obsessed with the graphics from MoPQ for a while now and I think it’s time to finally indulge. Also, I could really use some actual peace & quiet.
I am working on building my capsule wardrobe, and one of the staples I’m missing is a black blazer. I am loving this oversized linen one from COS, which looks just big enough to be cool without feeling overwhelming.
A winning lottery ticket. I have to pay for all these things I want somehow, right? And let’s be honest, a job in fashion just won’t really cut it. (I’m only half kidding. Fashion pays notoriously low and I do have a lot of things on my wish list, but I only buy a fraction of them and also is there a way to game the lottery system?).
A new reusable bag. I’ve finally gotten into the habit of carrying around a reusable bag that folds down with me, but it’s never large enough to hold all the groceries/clothes/miscellaneous crap I accumulate throughout the day, so I could use one or two more to keep in my work bag. I love these striped Baggu ones that get the job done and are simultaneously not offensive to carry around.
I really try not to spend a fortune on my daughter’s clothes that she’ll grow out of in two seconds, but I do have my eye on a few things from the new Zara baby collection that are just too cute to resist (says the mother that promised to dress her baby only in gender neutral apparel). I love this jacket, these adorable pants, these little overalls, and this sweet, sweet embroidered dress.
I have been having serious decision paralysis over how to decorate my daughter’s room. It’s about halfway done, and has been thrown together a little haphazardly with things we needed immediately and therefore got what was available easily on Amazon and things we took with us from our last place. I’m trying to be a little more intentional with anything new I’m buying for it, and I think I’ve finally landed on this cute, rather neutral checkerboard rug for the space (of course to be covered by foam mats, for now). But I’m sure I’ll change my mind again and again and again before I commit…we’ll see.
I’m really trying to up my kitchen game, in that I am working towards getting flatware, mug, cup, and dish sets to actually be cohesive and not cobbled together from years or roommates and moving and emergency buying. When I got married we upgraded our dining set to this one from Hawkins which I still love so much. Next up for me is mugs, and I have my eyes on these navy ones from CB2. I love the deep blue color and squarish handle (and the green are a really close second).
happy shopping!
xx,
jen
Love all of these. Baggu totes are my favorite. I have a bunch and get so much us out of them.
I love the jeans section! Even if we can't always afford the jeans...I love this idea that we should not feel not guilty about wanting them because for those of us for whom fashion is part of our identity, they really are legitimate self-care! (whether or not fashion should be this big of a part of our identity, we can save for another day. also, probably too late for me to change in that regard! hahaha)
